If you want to get something for your home that will last a chesterfield sofa would be a great investment piece which would would bring a sense of style to your home. If you look after the sofa it will last you you a life time. There are plenty of leather cleans that you can buy to keep your sofa looking good as new. If you use these once a month it will prolong the life of the sofa and there will be no need for an expensive replacement.

If you did want a change you could perhaps get the covers of your sofas changed which wouldn’t be as costly as getting a completely new one. There are a whole range of different types of chesterfields that you can get for your home. You can get a chesterfield chair if you don’t have enough room for a full sofa. Equally if you have more room you can get one which seats more people or you could get two 2-seaters.

Adorning yourself with gorgeous designer clothes can be a life-consuming, budget-devouring passion for some of us. Spending all that time and money on clothes, shoes and, of course, the accessories, doesn’t always leave much left over for the décor. Still, we do want our houses to reflect our refined sense of style. The good news is you don’t have to break the bank to make your apartment or house just as trendy and fashion-fixated as you.

You just need to exercise a little ingenuity and find an online outlet that specializes in discount printing. Now, the copyright to almost all fashion art belongs to the photographer or the publication that bought it. Still, you can find great free-to-the-world fashion shots, courtesy of the boutiques and designers that want you to help them advertise. Usually, their logo is just a watermark in the picture. Find a few you love and then scan them into your PC. If you are good with photo-editing software, you can alter them to make them look more artsy, either by going black-and-white, or applying a glamorous foggy shroud about the subject.

When you’ve got the look you want, email it as in the specified format to a good online printer and in almost no time, you’re going to have a full-sized poster of your fashion photo that can be framed or hung sans frame on the wall. Discount printing outlets found on-line can also help you with smaller reprints to frame and hang around the house. How about a cluster of great shots featuring the same model? Or, try different models and the same designer. Hair shots and hand shots that show plenty of sparkle will put life and imagination into your décor, doing for your house what your clothes do for you. Make it look divine.

For some unknown reason, perhaps an instinct left over from our Neanderthal past, we always feel a need to spruce things up around the house when springtime bursts into bloom. Some call it spring cleaning, but for most of us, it’s more than that. It’s a renewing, revitalizing of our style. Whether you own your own home, or you are living in one of the many great Boston apartments or condominiums, you’re probably getting the itch just like me. Homeowners have a special license to redo, giving them a broader range of possibilities for spring revival in their abodes. That’s only fair, since they own them (or they own a mortgage!). Apartment dwellers, however, need to obey a few rules, since they are merely tenants. This is not necessarily bad, since it prevents the renter from any of the heavy duty, high-cost maintenance projects that often seem to coincide with the change of seasons.

Let the superintendent take down your storm doors and clean your gutters. You can enjoy the fun of new throw rugs that bring color to the floors. Got carpet? Go ahead and try a contrasting colored rug over the carpet. Yes! It will look great! When it’s spring, you need to let in the sunlight. If your drapes or blinds are old and dull, dump them. Stylish Boston apartments and homes are going to be featuring lots of gauzy sheers between colorful drapes, or better yet, pull up roman-style blinds that let in the light. Go bold with your throw pillows and get rid of anything cold, dull and lifeless that makes you think of snow and winter. Start a few seeds in flowerpots in a sunny window and dream. After all, in a couple more months we’ll be heading into the season of summer fun and, by doing a little revamping now, you’ll be ready and so will your home.

Your home is your sanctuary. It’s the place you come home to everyday after work. It’s the last thing you see before you fall asleep, and the first thing you see when you awake. Considering how much of our lives are spent at home, it’s important to have an environment that we enjoy; comfortable, practical, and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately interior design isn’t always cheap. Here are five ways you can save money doing it

1. Rejuvenate With New Colors of Paint

You can swing by Home Depot (or any hardware store) and pick up a gallon of paint for under twenty dollars, so there’s really no excuse not to paint. This is especially true for smaller spaces, like apartments. It won’t cost you much to paint them, so why not give it whirl? Transform your dull, standard white walls, to a warm “Shitake Mushroom” or cool “Nantucket Fog” and the difference will astound you!

2. Buy From Costco and Sam’s Club

Many people forget that the warehouse clubs also sell a number of interior design products. For example, Sams Club sells housewares, furniture, and even live plants! If you pay for it with your Sams Club Discover credit card, you’ll save even more with the cash back rewards.

3. Check Estate Auctions

One of the cheapest places to snatch up affordable furniture and decorative items are at local estate auctions. First of all, the quality is generally way better than what you can buy new, since the items for sale are usually decades old. Secondly, the prices are usually way lower than anywhere else. This is especially true for the ones that take place in rural areas.

4. Cash Out Your Credit Card Rewards

Perhaps you have some cash back or rewards accumulated on your card… why not cash them out? For example, Discover credit cards (like the Discover Open Road) will let you redeem your rewards for gift cards. To sweeten the pot, they will even give you up to double the amount when you opt for gift cards instead of cash. But regardless of your card issuer, why not cash out those points for a Sams Club or Home Depot gift card you can use to pay for your new design?

5. Ask Friends & Relatives For Old Items

As the old saying goes, one man’s junk is another’s treasure. This is especially true when it comes to interior design. Many people have loads of great stuff stashed away in their basement, simply because it doesn’t match their current style. Or they may not be using it because there is a blemish (i.e. a table that needs new varnish). Check with your friends, family, and neighbors to see if they have anything you might be interested in. They will probably give it to you for free, for trade, or at a very reasonable price.

Here are some easy tips to decorate your home. Taking a few moments to think about your home will help you fully enjoy it.

Think about your home, and answer these questions:

1. What do you want it to be? If you want your home to be a tranquil oasis in a busy world, are your colors soothing or do they shout? If you want a fun place for friends to gather, do you have plenty of seating?

2. What are your main hobbies and activities? What do you need for these activities? For instance, if you have a collection that you work on often, get storage containers for it that can be easily opened or put away. If it’s a lot of trouble to get at your collection, you either won’t spend the time on it, or else might be tempted to leave it out and risk losing or breaking certain pieces.

3. Who will be using the space? How many people will be living there? What ages? It’s important for every person to have a space that’s their own. Whether it’s a special chair, couch, desk or a section of a room, everyone needs ‘their space’. If you’re planning to do video aerobics, you’ll need room to move around in front of the TV!

4. What about your things? It’s easy to become very messy if things don’t have a place. A small filing cabinet is a must for many people – it’s a great place to store all the papers that you don’t know what to do with!

5. How much do you really need? Too much furniture makes a room seem crowded. The bare essentials are a couch and chair, a table and chairs for eating, a bed and place for your clothes. After that, think hard about what you need or don’t need. Will you really use that computer desk – or would you rather sit on the couch with a laptop?

6. Think about the traffic flow. You want to be able to walk anywhere in the room without bumping into furniture. Try drawing furniture placement on paper as a first step.

7. Pick a focal point – your Greystone Properties home has unique features. What do you want to see when your first walk in the room? If you have nice windows with great lighting, are you emphasizing it? Everyone feels brighter in sunshine.

8. Think about order and organization. Do you bring home work every day, or mail, or sports equipment? Where will you put it? A large bowl or box near the front door is a great place to drop mail until you go through it later.

9. Take advantage of free expert advice. Every store and every product line employs professional designers to put furniture and accessories together. If you’re unsure of your decorating skills, pick a design you like. Study how they did it either by looking through a catalogue or going to a store. It’s all there assembled and displayed for you. If you like the look, simply do what they’ve done!
